Care, use and longevity

How long will my Dwell mattress last?

A Dwell mattress is designed to provide consistent comfort and support for years to come. With proper care and a supportive foundation, you can expect your mattress to last around 7–10 years. Over time, natural materials will gradually soften, but the core support is built to remain stable and reliable.

Do I need to rotate my mattress?

Yes, rotating your mattress helps promote even wear over time. We recommend rotating your Dwell mattress 180 degrees monthly for the first 6 months – and then every 6 months afterward. This helps maintain consistent comfort and extends the life of your mattress.

Do I need to flip my mattress?

No, Dwell mattresses are designed with a one-sided construction, so flipping is not necessary. The comfort layers are built into the top of the mattress, so simply rotating it is all that’s needed.

Can I use my mattress right away after unboxing?

Yes, your mattress is ready to use as soon as it’s fully expanded, which is almost immediately. Most mattresses will continue to expand slightly for up to 24 hours. You can sleep on it the same night.

Will my mattress have an odor when I open it?

You may notice a light, temporary scent when your mattress is first unboxed. This is normal and typically dissipates within a few hours to a couple of days. Allowing the mattress to air out in a well-ventilated room will help speed the process.

How do I clean my Dwell mattress?

To keep your mattress fresh – and protect your warranty – we recommend using a mattress protector. For spills or spots, gently blot the area with a clean cloth and mild detergent – avoid soaking the mattress or using harsh chemicals. Let the area dry completely before covering it again.

Should I use a mattress protector?

Yes, a mattress protector is one of the easiest ways to extend the life of your mattress. It helps guard against spills, stains and everyday wear while keeping your sleep surface clean and comfortable. And if your mattress does need service, it ensures your mattress is free from stains.

Can I use my mattress on any bed frame?

Your Dwell mattress is designed to work with a stable, supportive base, including a platform bed or slatted frame (with slats no more than 4" apart, appropriate number of legs and adequate center support for full, queen and king sized mattresses, all as described in the Limited Warranty) or an adjustable base. A proper base ensures your mattress performs as intended over time.

Will my mattress soften over time?

Yes, it’s normal for a mattress to feel slightly softer as it adjusts to your body and use over time. This is part of the natural break-in process and helps the mattress better conform to you. The underlying support system is designed to remain consistent.

What can I do to extend the life of my mattress?

A few simple steps can help your mattress perform its best for years: use a supportive base, rotate it regularly, add a mattress protector and clean any spills promptly. With proper care, your mattress will continue to deliver consistent comfort and support.
